Front wheel fitted the wrong way round... SINCE NEW!!

I bought my Fz8n brand new back in September 2012 and I've only done 4000 miles since. Yesterday I topped up the air in my front tyre and noticed that the front tyre was fitted the wrong way round.... at least that was I originally thought! As I circled the bike cursing the shop I bought it...

    Who works for Yamaha?

OK this doesn't help you at all now Alex, but I worried about losing mine when no box was fitted: so I screwed some small metal hooks (wider than the holes the dampers go through) into the rubber stalks after fitting, just in case!

Dyno run booked for this weekend :)

Cheers guys, yes the gains seem small on the chart but the bike already had a full Arrow system (so no cat or DB killer) plus the K&N and PC5 were installed (but the PC5 only had the closest map I could find on the PC website which wasn't really close enough). So compared to the original spec...

Dyno run booked for this weekend :)

The results are in... Maybe the cool-ish temperature helped and of course not all dynos are created equal but I'm surprised and pleased to end up with 106 bhp at the wheel and 61ft/lbs! I've only done about five miles since getting it done, but the throttle response feels better than it did...

Dyno run booked for this weekend :)

Haven't been here recently with my bike hibernating in it's shed over winter. But hopefully my 2012 FZ8 will by singing it's heart out on a Dynojet 250i on Sunday. The bike has had a full Arrow exhaust since the first service (up to 3000 miles now) and I threw a PC5 (with O2 optimizer) and K&N...

Yamaha Rear Carrier - incompatible with Givi 366kit

Hello fellow 'shire dweller! My work collegue has an FZ8 (so have I) and I think encountered the same problem. He certainly has the Yamaha rear carrier and *I think* the Givi side carriers. I'll see him tomorrow and ask him what he did to get it all to fit. It wasn't exactly a five minute job...

Stuck in 3-4-5-6 gears at a stop.

I think what OP means that when he comes up to a set of traffic lights on red for example, he may be approaching in 5th gear but he'll brake and pull the clutch in by the time he gets to a standstill. Then he would keep the clutch held and click down the gears. Or at least he would try to...

    Top Box Woes

I think with some Givi boxes (the official Yamaha cases are made by Givi too) you can buy a back rest that fits to the back of the case. Don't ask me which models though cos I don't know! But anyhow I hope you mean to only take the case on and off and not the whole rack.... not unless you...

    Top Box Woes

I used a Dremel to file away my plastic... still took an hour or more though cos I had never used a Dremel in anger before. One bit of advice I would give is to protect the rest of the seat unit with masking tape before you start removing plastic. I managed to put a scratch on the seat unit...

New respect for this 2012 FZ8!

Don't want to give you a downer but I'll say this... your motorbike (and pretty much any motor vehicle) has the potential to kill you and anyone you happen to be close to the first time you get carried away with power/speed/excitement. So don't try to emulate the ppl you've seen looking cool on...

    Givi Monokey Hard Case Install

Clemmel I think the same way :) ever since I had a VFR800 with a top box I've always wanted another bike with a boot (or trunk :P ). I even mounted a 55 litre box to the pillion seat of my last bike, an R1 :D Anyway I have the official Yamaha rack - I've got the 46 litre box for longer trips...

    Let's talk tank bags.

I have the Bags Connection quick lock too, and I can vouch for ease of fitting and convenience, I had it on my R1 before the FZ, and just needed a new tank ring for it to fit the new bike. I also have a Bagster Tank cover and tank bag for bigger trips. I bought the tank cover before deciding...

New Luimoto seat covers - Done that!!

I have the same on my bike... haven't noticed the seams either but then I have been wearing thick m/c trousers while waiting for the weather to warm up! I do think the extra layer of material adds a little more comfort over the standard seat though, as well as being more grippy as Tiify says :)

    handguards or hippo hands

I'm pretty tempted with these: LED Hand guards Integrated Indicators Suitable For Yamaha FZ6N / FZ8 | eBay Together with one of those Motodynamics integrated tail light/indicator units, but I'm also worried about the bar vibes since I'd lose the bar end weights. There are several options...
