How long does the clutch last?

i had 27,000 miles on my clutch but the bike had a weird sound (ticking coming from the clutch since new, sometimes when letting it idle for 10 minutes then pulling the lever then the ticking would stop) so the dealer got Yamaha to replace the clutch and basket free, when they inspected the...

    Sold my FZ8.

I have no interest in hard bags at the price they are at. $1295. luckily i have never really needed more than what my backpack carries. Yeah the holy shit factor is definitely here with the Ninja 1000, and i didn't have to go to the supersport to get it. I ride too much too far to ride a...

    Sold my FZ8.

I won't be selling the ASV levers because ASV is going to ship me the correct pieces to attach them to the Ninja. $104 dollars... but still cheaper than buying a new set that is on back order with no date determined for delivery. I love these levers!

    Sold my FZ8.

I screwed up and over exposed most of em but here is one after i realized i had the camera set wrong. I only have 107 miles on it so far, but my first impressions are. Holy shit! this thing has a lot of power! rides like a dream, bumps that would have been jarring on the FZ8 are nothing to...

    Sold my FZ8.

I traded in for a 2014 Ninja 1000, i will miss the 8 but it was time to let her go at 27000 miles before i lost too much more trade in value. And Kawi had $2000 in instant rebates that was ending in a few days. I took off the new ASV C5 levers and will put them on Ebay soon.

    26000 mile service completed.

I normally change the plugs but that did not effect the price in this case since they were already there. your right about one thing though I should have changed the coolant myself. i have never done it and didn't really know what to do. although i am sure i could have figured it out.

    26000 mile service completed.

Well i just got my bike back from the shop. All 8 of my Exhaust valves were out of spec and needed adjustments. I told them i would change the oil and clean my filter. But they Also checked the steering stem bearings, replaced plugs changed the coolant and did the other small greasing and...

    oil damaged by cold?

read the top post again lad ;) particularly this line "I also noticed that it wouldn't stick when cold but after it had warmed up the clutch would start grabbing." and when i say warmed up i mean 180 degrees and riding for a half hour at least.

    oil damaged by cold?

yeah but the oil was about 1 month old and had only 1800 miles on it. i am sure now that the extreme cold did it.

    oil damaged by cold?

    oil damaged by cold?

I went for a ride Saturday, and I noticed that my clutch was grabbing even when I had it pulled in fully. I also noticed that it wouldn't stick when cold but after it had warmed up the clutch would start grabbing. Sunday I took it out and the same problems persisted. The bike was sitting in the...

i have been riding all season for the past 3 winters here in NYC but the past 3 weeks has been too cold and too much ice to ride. maybe in a couple of days i will be able to get some seat time in. i will ride if it is 30 and up when it is dry. heated gear of course...
