2013 FZ8 First Bike. Any tips?

I can't offer any advice on lowering the bike, but if I recall when my bike was stock I'd get about 42 mpg. After an ecu flash it might have dropped a little cause I get into it more at about 38-40mpg. I've never got 50+ on it. Used to get 50 on my yzf600r tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My cousin bought a cheap tail light for his r6 that he said wasn't hard to install and he didn't have any issues with. I have the motodynamics tail light and couldn't be happier. Around every holiday they have coupon codes for about 10 bucks off. It's 80 bucks but true plug and play and great...

    Installed Yoshimura slip-on.. Do I need a K&N filter? if so do I need a air/fuel controller(power commander)

I also recommend turbojoe ecu tune if you want to feel a performance gain. To answer your question, no you don't need to replace the filter because of the slip on. You can run a slip on with this bike without having to tune the ecu or getting a fuel controller. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Suspension

So obviously the r1 shock is better than the fz1 shock (hence a lot of the fz1 guys buying the adapters), and the fz1 shock is better than the fz8 shock. Totally your call, but I'm not sure I even had to trim the tray (it was a long time ago). The install was actually very easy and straight...

Sorry this forum has been pretty dead. A lot of the guys moved over to another more general motorcycle forum and probably don't check in here as often. I'm a light guy, but I upgraded the rear to the r1 with the adapter and the bike felt a lot more solid. I haven't done anything with the front...

In your opinion, what are the best (cheap) mods?

Ecu flash is 100% worth it. Have the bike some extra go, but overall I think it also made everything much more smooth. Biggest thing of note is the flat spot around 4.5k just about disappears. The r6 throttle tube also surprisingly made things smoother for me (I was afraid it would have the...

    ECU flash

It's probably a combination of going to a more sport bike oriented bike from a cruiser and the nature of the FZ8. I remember the first bike I got was a yzf600r and prior had only ridden a dirt bike. At first I couldn't keep the Rpms from jumping way up until I got adjusted to the bike. The ecu...

    Dr. Doom vs. Turbojoe

You could send turbojoe a message. I can't remember anymore, but I know his prices went up because he now has to register your ecu with flashtune for the licensing which is 100 bucks, then whatever joe charges for the flash plus shipping. It really is money well spent. I'll be flashing my car in...

    Dr. Doom vs. Turbojoe

Well I shouldnt have said everyone will agree. You'll always find someone lol. All I can really say is that I couldn't be happier with my turbojoe ecu tune. The vast majority of people that have had both fuel tuners and a flash have preferred the flash. the best thing would be to flash and...
