    Yeeeeaaaaaaa

Changing the spark plugs EVERY YEAR? Perhaps you are reading the service manual of a vintage bike... :D I don't remember the exact mileage for the FZ8, but it should be at least 20.000 km.

    Break in.

Marko is right! At higher rpm, the inertial force generated by the piston increases (it is directly related to the linear speed), and is able to slightly lengthen the piston rod at tdc... the amount is minimal, but when keeping an engine at low rpm most of the time, after long mileages a...

What do you use to navigate?

I use the old-style navigation, a good map printed on paper! Keeping your eyes on an electronic navigator for more than one second is a danger IMHO. I prefer to study the map before leaving, then if I get lost I stop the bike and take another look ;)

    Need help from fellow owners

All these bikes come with just one insert... perhaps someone at Yamaha has decided to remove the second, in order to save money for the MotoGP team :-) Just buy one and fit it in place, it's available as a regular spare part.

    painting those gold forks

Wrong... In the past I had my forks anodized over the existing anodization, just to change color, the result was simply perfect. Even on my Honda SP1 (RC51 in the US), used the hard way on track for some 2500 km, the finishing was the same as the original and lasted without problems till the day...

    painting those gold forks

I would rather wait until the time of the first fork maintenance... at that time, since they will have to be disassembled, it would be easy to send them to make a new anodization, in black. This is the very best solution, IMHO... since these forks are anodized, why paint them and somehow reduce...

    2011 FZ8 on its way....mod suggestions?

Wow, that V&H slip-on is perhaps the coolest I've seen so far for the FZ8...

    2011 FZ8 on its way....mod suggestions?

Yes, but adjusting the spring preload is just a "static" adjustment, it sets the point where the unit will start to work. No influence on the dynamic performance (that's what really counts)... For that, you should have some hydraulic adjustments and a good overall quality (on a low-quality unit...

    2011 FZ8 on its way....mod suggestions?

Well, it's a matter of opinion, after all... One could ride for thousands of miles and feel comfortable. Instead, I can notice the rear shock "squeezing" too much when wide opening the throttle exiting from turns... This always results in turns wider than expected. Furthermore, when riding with...

    2011 FZ8 on its way....mod suggestions?

The very first mod should be a serious suspension setting... Throwing away that... thing at the rear, mounting a good shock absorber unit and finally balancing the front fork as well. After achieving a good handling, one cold think about fashion and sound... IMHO

    Newbie from Italy

Here I am, proud owner of a brand new Fazer 8... Great bike, indeed! I haven't so much time to spend on the internet, but I like to spend it at some interesting forum (like this? I hope so... :D ).
