Turn Signals: The Good & The Bad

I purchased some flush mount signals for the front and at the time (4/12) i got them from NewEnough online. These are the "High Tech Speed Proton" flush mount models and these were designed for the FZ1. They don't quite fit exactly over the empty whole in the headlamp once you take the originals off so I took the original stalk, cut it down to about the same height as the empty socket on each side and used it as a shim for these new ones.

The lights are pretty bright but since the LEDs are mostly facing the sides, you don't get the same front on coverage that you would get from front facing lights.

What these light do have is options for flashing. If I remember right they had two speeds of flashing and the option that I have, a flashing strobe. You can't really see it in the video but for each regular flash of the light, they are actually strobing about 5 times. That extra movement is very noticeable I believe. These also function as marker lamps too at a lower light setting.

At the time, I got these for $70.

So I'll begin

Then I bought these:

2 Color LED Signals

Rating: 9/10

These things are bada$$! I love them. The blue gives it a nice look at night and catches people's eyes. They are very bright compared to the ones I bought before and am completely satisfied with them. One thing I would like to see in these would have been at least one or two LEDs to be pointed out to the sides to have to be more visible that way but other than that, these things are bright and do their main job! Love them!

The bolt looks lik its too big to fit thru the small hole in the plate/washer thing inside the signal housing. or am i missing something?

It fits but either you get washer you accommodate the gap to hold the signals in or you buy these:

Adapters

That's going to be my next purchase to make them look clean

Thanks, I will! I forget what the shipping estimate said exactly, but it's gonna be at least a couple weeks. I'm still new at this, so help is always appreciated :)

Finally got around to taking the headlight off. Here is the wiring you'll need to do if you haven't done it already.

Haha, this is awesome. I JUST got them yesterday and was looking for some advice on the install tonight. Did you have to mount a couple of resistors as well to prevent hyper-blink?

Signals installed. Thanks for the wiring assist! I have the motodynamic tail light, so I used the plastic mounting things from my stock tail signals to give it a nice flush look without the extra adapters (which I ordered anyway)

did you have issues with the motodynamic not doing the sequential turning?

Yeah, everything is hyper-blinking. The tail is doing its thing, but it's so fast that it looks like it's just flashing. I ordered a new flasher relay from custom led that should fix the issue

I was going to say to get a load resistor from ebay and just connect it in parallel to the front LEDs, that fixed it for me

R6 Motodynamics Led front signals with built in resistors.

I like how they angle out a bit to help with forward visibilty.

are load resistors or flasher controls needed? is there anything bad thats associated with fast blinking turn signals?

My dad was going to get those for his bike. They look hella bright!!

They come with the the resistors to help control flash rate. I learned that all the resistors that are included in the kit are not required for the fz8 electrical set up. Flash rate wasn't effected when I removed one of the two resistors. I think the extra resistors are for all makes and models. It makes sense if you see the kit in person. Still Great option compared to whats out there.
