Turn Signals: The Good & The Bad

Turn signals are a hit or miss when it comes to eBay. I thought about starting this thread to have people post the signals they got and if they're satisfied or not. Please include a link or name of the signals, and a picture in case in the future the link gets broken!

So I'll begin

I bought these:
Flush Mount Smoke LED Signals

Rating: 3/10

If you don't care to have visible turn signals in the front, buy these. Overall they look nice but when I turned them on, I could barely see them in normal daylight, and at night they weren't impressive it at all. Even the clear ones weren't that great. What I did like was the mounting of them but that's it.

Then I bought these:

2 Color LED Signals

Rating: 9/10

These things are bada$$! I love them. The blue gives it a nice look at night and catches people's eyes. They are very bright compared to the ones I bought before and am completely satisfied with them. One thing I would like to see in these would have been at least one or two LEDs to be pointed out to the sides to have to be more visible that way but other than that, these things are bright and do their main job! Love them!

I have the Yamaha LED blinkers up front and a motodynamic integrated rear tail light. Im very happy with both.
The Yamaha LED's are not available in the US so it takes a couple weeks to get them from the UK and they have a much faster blink rate even with the supplied resistors installed. So you will need a new flasher relay to slow the blink rate.
Also the Yamaha LED's are two wire so you lose the running light function, you will need a blinker genie or similar device if you want running lights.

Yes it's very bright and visible! It is money well spent!

Let me know how you like them! Oh and BTW, once you get them, let me know what color the wires are because mine were orange, green, and blue so I'll help you wire them

The turn signals are POS. 2 of them have started to come apart already, about 2500 miles. The metal for the threaded portion is just plugged into a rubber grommet. It's not really sealed and 1 of them came loose when I bumped it walking by the bike and the other must have come loose when I was putting on or taking off my cover for the bike.

These are different than the ones I bought, but by looking at the LEDs, they are very similar to the flush mount ones. The ones I got are pretty sturdy. Time will tell though.

For the blurriness of the picture, and the fact that there are lights in garage, I will have to agree with the brightness. Now I REALLY want them!

Thanks, I will! I forget what the shipping estimate said exactly, but it's gonna be at least a couple weeks. I'm still new at this, so help is always appreciated :)

I wanted to stick with incandescent bulbs rather that LEDs, including running lights in the front, to make wiring them up easy and the blink rate a non-issue. I also liked the look of clear lenses (with amber bulbs) on this black and gray motorcycle. Both sets are Lockhart Phillips. The fronts are the Aluminum Series, Clear Lens, Dual Filament. The rears are Short Stalk II, Black/Clear, Single Filament.

I tried the plastic Black/Clear Dual Filament units on the front, but the plastic back portion melted after a short time with the running lights on. Thus the aluminum units on the front.

Overall, looks-wise I like them much better than the stock turn sugnals, and I think they are visible enough. I haven't had them installed for very long, maybe 200 miles, but so far so good.

Those look good. Can I ask where you picked those up from?

I'll try to get you a comparison picture this weekend since I am going to help another user with the wiring so I'll slap them on for you. Which ones you want on? the flush mount or the ones with the blue LED as running lights?

For anyone interested in buying LED turn signals, I've worked with LEDs for some time and if you're looking to buy LED signals, check if they are SMD LEDs rather than Thru-Hole LED. SMDs are a lot brighter IMHO with a better viewing angle. I have to see if I can find any cheaper flush mount signals with SMD LEDs.
