    r6 throttle tube

So it was a balmy 15 C (59F) in Ontario today, and I took the beast out with the new throttle tube. It's NOT too aggressive. Its just about right, and no fear of being too jumpy at low speeds. I'd give it a 10/10 and the easiest and cheapest thing you can do to make it easier to utilize all of...

Yoshimura tail tidy - Ontario guys

Thanks for the info Blackfin! My FE with the LED lights is 13.5", so your set up would fit fine within the Givi cases. The only thing left to consider is how dangerous it would be having them tucked up in between the cases. Thanks again for the information!

    r6 throttle tube

Stock is a 1/4 turn... 90 degrees. I think we can all agree on that. The 2CO-26240-00 from Yamaha is actually a 1/5 turn... 70 degrees. Measured with a protractor, but it certainly isn't a 60 degree turn. Can't wait for the snow to disappear and give it a whirl. It seems pretty aggressive just...

Yoshimura tail tidy - Ontario guys

Ya... just drill new holes in the plate... ? That's what I had to do with my old FZ6 FE anyway. Can you do me a favor tho... post a picture of the finished product and take an outside measurement of the indicator lights. I have an after market FE but it still hangs down and out similar to the...

    New Yamaha FJ-09 - Opinions?

I'm not loving Yamahas moves... In my opinion, the FZ-09 is cheap, and I don't mean inexpensive. I haven't gone over it with a fine toothed comb, and basically stopped at the cheap unfinished looking rad. In my opinion they're at risk of losing their reputation of having great fit and finish...

    Real World MPG's.

It's really important to recognize that our speedometers are off. I have speedoDRD to correct that issue and track my MPG or L/100km on FZ8 (Yamaha FZ8) | Fuelly Average is 6.1 L / 100km (38.6 MPG) Best is 5.8L / 100km (40.9 MPG)

Need some help, advise please! Fault code er01

I wonder if it could be something in the dash as well. I know vehicles have stepper motors that actually work the gauges. It's almost as if it happens only when the gauge slams back to idle. Just an off the wall guess.

What are your shifting habits? Please help

I'm not convinced of that, because even on relatively flat, long distant riding I wasn't getting that good a fuel milage. I think it's because I was doing 80-90km/h (50mph), versus 130km/h (80mph).

What are your shifting habits? Please help

YES!!! I thought I was crazy when I was ripping along a very hilly and twisty Gaspe Peninsula and getting an honest (speedoDRD) 5.7L / 100km. That equates to 41mpg, which was my all time best... as seen on FZ8 (Yamaha FZ8) | Fuelly And I'd wager that my calculations are one of the most...

Leftover Cortech 8L tank bag for FZ8

Keep in mind that the front portion of the tank is plastic, thus won't hold magnets, but there should still be plenty of steel tank to stick to. I have an older magnetic Cortech Elite Tourmaster Tri-bag tank bag. It sticks fantastically, but I've never used all three pieces together. For that...

    My Speedometer

fixed mine with a SpeedoDRD I figured mine was off about 10%, so picked up a SpeedoDRD. Very easy to install and operate, and cheaper than a Speedohealer. When I installed the DRD, the correction was -6.6%, but that's according to its own calculations. I didn't check to see if it changed from...

    Rear brake problems!!!!

as I suspected... Most braking systems are 'floating'. That doesn't mean that the pads float, it means that one side of the rotor 'floats'. It actual fact, it slides while one side stays stationary. The slides, pins and rubbers were probably dry and dirty. You can bet that the dealer is...

Go Cruise throttle lock... any good?

I've had this "throttle lock" for several years now, so keep in mind I may have an early model. It's inexpensive, but slips pretty easily with the vibration of the bike. It's a simple fix tho... an elastic band wrapped around the neck of it a few times creates a little more pressure on it...

    Hello from Ontario, Canada!

Oshawa here... so which one of you guys is going to arrange an FZ ride to Wasaga during break neck season?

    I got SCREWED!

speaking of which... What do you guys generally run for pressure? I'm about 32 cold, and 36 hot, both front and back. I read once that you should have a 10% increase from cold to hot... idk.

    New Bike Chain Grease Splatter.

Don't use kerosene! It washes out any lube deep within the chain, and it becomes noisy... been there, done that. Use the WD40 with a rag, don't spray the whole chain, just the rag. The rag won't allow enough on the chain to wash it out. Once clean, re lube the chain. I go to the extent of...

RAM X-Grip. Which one is best?

definitely U bolt I've got the Ram X grip and swear by it. I'm not familiar with the strap type mount, but also very much like the U bolt mount that I used. I used a small slice of cigarette package to buffer the clamp from the handle bars, just so it didn't mar it.
