Windscreens for long trips

I wished I had taken pictures of my helmet with all the bugs. With the Givi in place 90% of bugs are gone. Don't really notice any wind noise. But, there is a little rattle from the screen on bumps, so need to do some insulation.

The MRA speedscreen and mount kit showed up. The screen looks good on the black bike, is infinatly adjustable for rake with the ball mount system. Works good to keep the wind off my chest. This screen has the vario screen on it and can be adjusted to slow turbulance. I will take pics later, just having supper now and off for another ride before dark , it's fianally warm out, and 24*c tomorrow too, yahoo spring has sprung.:) The MRA Racescreen will be here next week, i will keep the one that i think is best for long hiway use.

Pics of the MRA Speedscreen. You can adjust the screen on the fly from almost vertical to 180* horizontal with the ball mount system. Fits the lines of the bike great for a universal screen. Nice thing is you can lay it flat horizontal when parked in the rain or to keep UV off of instrument cluster. Will post pics and review of the MRA racescreen when i get it mounted. Looks darker in real life, the sun was shining hard( 27*C today).

Nakeds and windscreen don't mix well, but if I needed one for a long trip this would be it, looks like it offers some pretty decent wind protection!

As in wind off the chest and directed on the helmet instead?

Top of helmet if screen adjusted just right, if i stretch up i can feel turbulance (noise) hit helmet. At highway speed i can shoulder check without the wind trying to twist my neck around. I can tilt the sheild down a little to let wind hit my shoulders to have wind in my face, but not much head turbulance or buffeting. If i tilt the shield too vertical the wind noise is bad. I will ride some more highway to get a sweet spot in adjustment and report back. I have been so dang busy at the shop, and not been able to get out for much of long highway jaunt.

Here are pics of the MRA Racescreen. You can use the MRA.HKSD mount (same as Speedscreen mount) or the MRA.HK windscreen kit in conjuction with the HKSD tree mounts as i suspected from the pics. Went for a short trip to Penticton (10 miles of highway one way). There was very little crosswinds along the lake so was easy to position the angle of the screen for oncoming wind. The Racescreen(below) is 3 inches higher than the Speedscreen(previous post), and has a outwrd curve as opposed to the inward curve of the previous one tested. Anyway , the Racescreen works better at directing the wind over you and is quieter doing so, this shield really works well with no turbulance, i like it better for function than the Speedscreen. Although both screens fit the lines of the bike i hate to have a screen on the naked. BUT for trips the Racescreen doesn't look too bad:eek:, and with very little wind against you you can really cruise in comfort on long trips. Untill the next hiway trip it will sit in Garage( 2 bolts and it off and infinate adjustment) .

typo on one of those "Speedscreens"? I didn't understand..
Thanks for the rundown though. I'm still waiting on the Givi as its backordered. maybe I'll cancel and go for one of these.

I'm not into screens but I'm glad you've found something that works. Should help others get a good feel for what they'll need if that's their bag.
In terms of aesthetics, I think the second one looks better...Which one you gonna keep BW?

I will keep the Racescreen( 2nd one). I may only use it 5 or 6 times this summer when i go camping over the mountains, otherwise i will be riding naked:D

Just for clarity, which mount is in the picture with the racescreen above?

The mount kit is mra.HK, but i used the tree mounts from the MRA.HKSD kit that i had with the other Speedscreen(first one tested). I did try to mount the last screen tested with the MRA.HKSD mount kit onlyand it worked as well. If you don't want to order both kits you have to wait for the MRA.HKSG kit to arrive(they[twited throttle] said 2-3 weeks). Hope i am making sence:eek:

OK - so the MRA.HK = straight bars and MRA.HKSD has bent bars but also the tree mounts?

Nice post. I really prefer the smaller one, but the larger one will certainly offer the best protection for serious touring. That said, it would get off the bike as soon as I got back home hehe

your right Speedo, naked is best for everyday riding. They both look silly, but very effective for the long haul, and on the highway nobody will really notice.
