Pretty much Mikz86ta Yamaha is going to use the cross plane engine in all their sport and naked line up, the R6 doesn't have it yet but will get it next model year along with a redesigned body, so bikes like the FZ-07, FZ- 09,FJ-9, FZ-10, XSR-900, R1, R3 etc. all have the CP4/CP3/CP2 eventually including the R6. To bad Yamaha won't introduce a new FZ8 with the cross plane engine with 10 more hp than the current 106 hp, now that would be nice

There is a guy on youtube thrashing an FZ8 and he gets 250kph. The Tracer MT-09 does around 220kph according to owners. The Tracer will however out accelerate the FZ8.

Several people report clocking in excess of 150mph on youtube.

250kph = 155mph.

Allow for some speedo error and I reckon that the FZ8 is close to a 150mph machine.

Edit to add:

That puts the FZ8 in perspective in terms of value for money. Naked bikes with another 200-300cc costing many thousands more can only manage another 10-15 mph more than this. Sure they will out accelerate the FZ8 but my question is for that substantial extra cash and all the complications that go with the ultra modern machines are they actually worth it? Have bike manufacturers gone in the wrong direction? Don't forget also the lower fuel consumption with the 1 litre + bikes.
