I was blocking off the AIS hole in the airbox and found a way to do it very easily and thought I would share.
I had some windscreen screw/mounts from my old bike, an FZ6. Basically its a rubber plug with a nut inside it. you insert a screw in one end and as you tighten it the rubber plug expands ( a lot like many bar ends). It was cheap, stupid easy to install, very easy to uninstall if need be and stops the popping completely without having to do anything else.

To be clear I didn't disable the whole system, I just wanted to get rid of the exhaust popping. Hope this helps.
