Rear muffler rust

Hi
just wanted to know if anyone has had rust on there muffler like this.Has been there since the first week I got the bike after a trip in the rain.Yamaha Australia don't consider this a defect.

You should be able to remove the surface rust useing a good cleaner( alchohol) and a soft pick. No sence wasting money on an aftermarket can if you don't have too, the stock can looks the better than any slip on and suits the bike just fine.

The stock can is something that grew on me. I almost didn't buy the bike because of the can but now I kinda like it actually. And it's quiet-ish if you are into those things. Still got my eye on the scorpion though.
