When I was younger by 20 years, I actually rode from my base in NC to my folks house up in MA... nice long ride, hated crossing through the Bronx though. This was all done on a 1981 650 Nighthawk. loved that bike. but DAMN that ride was challenging... and the trip back to base SUCKED. Of course I had a duffelbag bungy corded to the rear of the seat, no real comfort ride either, and an ANCIENT Fulmer helmet ... (I think that was what it was).
I had grand plans to ride my FZ8 across country, or at least from Texas to Arizona this year, but after I had to put her down, I guess it won't be on that bike. Anyways, I came across SPOT on the VFR forums, one of the other VFR guys uses it to keep his wife from freaking out about not hearing from him on his trips, and I figured I'd share it with you guys since some of you sound like some long distance traveling fools... Anyone else use something like it?
