Front wheel removal?

Is there supposed to be a tool in the tool kit to get the front axle out? Nothing in my tool kit fits.

Why all the dots?

Nearly every other bike I'm familiar with that has our front axle setup has a tool included.

I had to go pick one up. Not the cheapest tool but you gotta have it. Make sure you torque your axle to specs when reinstalling it

Because you have to type in three or more characters to reply, so I simply answered your question, and the two letters "N" and "o", were insufficient amounts, so then I held down the "." button for a bit.

Hahahaha. I've done that before too!

I've not had my front wheel off yet, but I will be in the spring. Mine's in storage so I cant look. What "special tool" is needed. I have a fairly comprehensive roll-cab full of tools. Can't imagine I don't have whats needed.
Thanks for sharing .

You need a 14mm hex tool. You will first need to loosen the allen bolt at the bottom of the fork then remove the shaft with the hex tool.

The tool kit comes with a 17mm because it seems that it's for the other Yamaha sportbikes, and our bike requires a 14mm. It was just a little oversight by Yamaha.

By hex you mean Allen head? Thats what I thought. Not really specialist. If you own a Jap bike, and you do your own work, you should have a set of these, in socket form, with 3/8 drive.

Yes, a 14mm allen head. I actually removed mine yesterday to do my fork work. I found some R1 internals and caps so I will be working on those this weekend. I just need to finish building my rear shock and my suspension will be done !!

Just a quick question...am I the only one who was amazed with how small our front axle is? Makes me not want to do wheelies, not that I stopped but still lol

I've never had any use for an allen key that big before.

Off topic, are you putting R1 internals in the fz8 legs? What year internals are you using and are they a straight fit or do you need to shim?
