Backfire

Hi,

Can backfire cause any harm to the engine at all?

I ve put Mivv GP can on my Fazer 8 and gets loads of popping. Does not bother me at all, actually I love it when it pops, the only concern is possible harm to the engine.

Have an Akrapovik system on my FZ8, fitted by Yamaha (they actualy supply them fitted in the UK see link below) mine came with the baffles removed, again done by Yamaha, and yeah it backfires like a WW2 Fighter plane.......You should have no issues with yours or I can't see Yamaha fitting these units as standard in the UK.

No harm at all...popping on decel just indicates a lean condition. Should disappear with proper mapping.
