any ideas no how to put a back rest on a '13 fz8?

Rider or passenger? The only option for a passenger backrest is the rear carrier and shad case w/pad. This is a Canadian site, I don't think they sell these in the US. Other than that you would have to make something yourself.

For the rider this is the only option, Shads sport rack and the sh48 case with upper and lower backrest
