remove the seat
remove the plastic cover in front of the tank with 4 allen screws
remove the two bolts that hold the tank down
SLOWLY pivot the front of the tank up and prop it up with something (i use a short dowel)
remove the 11 phillips screws that hold the upper airbox cover on
remove the upper airbox cover carefully to prevent any dust kicking up

there you have the air filter.

p.s. the 11 screws are VERY tough to remove the first time, be patient.

Don't overlook the screw at the bottom of the deep hole in the center of the airbox!

HOLY CRAP, that's a lot to remove a dang air filter. Is it supposed to last the life of the bike? *sarcasm* Guess just another way to get the non mechanicaly inclined to drop $100 for a visit to the shop.

I've done it to install a gearindicator and I'm not especially mechanically inclined.:)
After seeing some airbox mods I'm afraid I'm gonna have to do it again too.;)
