Like i said the 1st Gen Vmax from 1985 to 2007 was a 1/4 mile drag bike that had some wobble issues in the twisties, the 2nd Gen 2009 and up has superior handling characteristics. As well as another 50 hp .

The 2012 Vmax has a sport frame, fully adjustable fingertip suspension(front and rear), ABS brakes on the new GEN2. It will smoke any FZ8 in the twisties, not like the old Vmax that was more for dragstrip, the new Vmax is a killer 1/4 mile bike that you can scrape pegs with, handles very good...

Ever since i got my 2012 Vmax i don't ride the FZ8.

Top Sellerie is where the seat was purchased, and it is a Yamaha center stand.

The reason i liked the 8 was because of the naked streetfighter look. Bad Ass. We all have different tastes, so do what you think looks good by all means.

Congrats on the new bike. I like the color. Looks like a few long distance tours are in your future, lots of storage for camping gear.

The 8 was my first street bike, i was a little nervous when i picked it up and had to ride it back to my town 20 miles away. Right away i realized how easy it was to ride when rolling on the throttle, well balanced and confidence inspiring. After a couple of days i opened it up and thought, wow...

Spring is getting closer, moved my 1700 from the toyhauler to the garage to start putting it back together after custom paint. My FZ8 just needs insurance, i hope to do that next week. Still lots of gravel on the streets, but its getting warmer.

I got 7500 kms out of the stock Bridgestones, put on a set of Road Pilot 3's, have over 9,000 kms on them and not quite 50% worn, great tires.

That is just creepy... and not right:p

Well looks like i will be able to put insurance on the 8 next week, getting spring like weather now. Can't wait to go for a blast, will have to take it easy on the side streets, they are still full of sand and gravel.

Fired up the bikes today. Spring is coming. Can't wait to ride. Still have to finish assembly on the Max after custom paint. Getting warmer now, so will move the bikes into the shop soon for spring service.

4*c today, snow is melting, spring is in the air. I'm getting all excited. Fired up the 8 this morning , aaah the smell from the exhaust made me want to ride, soon i say, soon!!!

Good point. You would have to send it back to return to stock. I purchased the OEM Yamaha Race ECM( closed circuit competition ECM), and had Tim refine it with the research he has been doing for years on 1 engine, and tame it for street riding by calming the power in the lower gears at the low...

Black8 ....Covers look really nice. Did you add any padding for comfort or just new mtop material? And i am glad someone else is freezing LOL
