FZ8- Tell Me About It! -Hard shifting?

The FZ6 had close to the same power as the FZ8 (98 vs 106). I believe your FZ6R came in around 77 HP. I did find more lower down power on the FZ8 and it was bigger than the 6. I am currently riding a 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 gt and noticed a big difference coming from the FZ8.

FZ8- Tell Me About It! -Hard shifting?

I had the 2013 Fazer 8 (FZ8 with fairings) and it made a pretty good clunking sound when going from neutral to first. It seemed normal to me and was the same as the FZ6 that I had before it. Shifting through the gears while riding was smooth and don't recall any unusual noises. I did find that...

2013 FZ8 spark plug torque specifications

Nice bike. It's been a while but I believe if you remove the upper radiator bolt you can get better access to the plugs. It's also suggested to blow away any dirt in the spark plug wells before removing the plugs. Spark plug torque 13Nm or 9.4 ft/lbs Spark plug gap 0.7 - 0.8 mm or 0.028 -...

    Mirror replacement

Is your bike a Fazer 8 or FZ-8? Those mirrors look closer to the type found on the Fazer 8. I looked up mirrors on the Yamaha parts list and there is a different part number between the Fazer 8 mirrors and the FZ-1 mirrors so you might have fitment issues with those ones. For Fazer 8 try...

Mine does the same. Cleaned the rotors with brake cleaner and a scuff pad and no change.

    Need Help

It's not clear from the picture where it is leaking however I would suggest replacing it with a new cover and plug. Not sure what year your bike is but the parts seem to be the same for the different model years. From the picture it looks like you would need Parts 1, 8, 9 and 10 shown at the...

    ECU Flash - BAUCE RACING

What mods do you have on your bike? What was the turn around time to get it done? Please provide an update in the spring after you've had a chance to try it out. Will be interested in hearing if it smooths out the dip around 5000 rpm and if the bike is more livelier.

    Seat Recommendations?

I have the Shad seat as well and find it better than stock. On the Yamaha seat I could go maybe 45 minutes before I would need to take a break. With the Shad seat I can easily go 1 1/2 hours or more before taking a break. Just came back from a 2 day trip where we covered about 700 miles and the...

Does your FZ8 "nudge" when you rev with the clutch pulled in?

Other than the clunk when kicking it into first gear I don't notice any lurching forward with the clutch pulled in or when trying to start the bike in gear. Maybe you just need to adjust your clutch lever. The instruction are found on page 7-22 of the owners manual. The clutch lever free play...

    Front Fork Spring Swap

You should try and get a copy of the service manual. The fork removal and disassembly is covered in the chassis section. You need to compress the spring so you can lower the spacer to get access to the lock bolt underneath the cap. Loosening the lock bolt will allow you to remove the cap from...

Headstock stand - what size pin?

You could try taking the end caps off (while the forks are still on the bike) and just replacing the springs however you won't be able to get the oil out. if you want to do the full job you need to get the front off the ground so you can remove the wheel and forks. Your probably better to lift...

About to take first ride! Any tips?

Assuming you have completed the MSF, have the M designation on your drivers license and have the bike insured I would suggest first trying to arrange taking it to a quiet parking lot before heading off on your trip. This would give you a chance to familiarize yourself with the bike, learning the...
