New to the FZ8!

Hey everyone,

Names Nick, I live in Allentown, PA...I just purchased a 2012 yamaha FZ8 this week, its a left over model that a local dealer had.

I haven't taken delivery on it yet, but I will post up a picture once received.

I am immediately ordering a R&G Tail Tidy, Danmoto Carbon Fiber GP slip-on and different mirrors, probably bar end mirrors.

Future plans for it over the course of the riding season here in northeast, US....HIDs and smaller turn signals.

Any suggestions on other great mods please free free to chime in!

Congrats!!!!!

First thing, FRAME SLIDERS and BOBBINS, protection protection protection!

Free mods:
Lars air box mod
PVC quick turn throttle
Gut your cat
You can also cut your sub throttle plates down to help with the airflow, but you will prob need to work on getting a fuel controller (Power Commander, Bazzaz, Juice Box)
All of the above mentioned you can google search and find a ton of how to's on them.

Cheaper mods:
Air Filter
Dan Moto slip on


You picked a good bike, there is a lot of good info on here, use the search tab and ask questions!

Welcome to the club. Look up Rabbitman for your HID's, he does a kick ass job. As for mods, best sugestion is to look at some of our sigs at the bottom of our posts to get some idea of what we have all been doing.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, I don't have to mess with fuel delivery and fuel trims for a simple slip-on exhaust correct?

welcome. motodynamic tail light cause is way brighter and blackout or change those turn signals

Don't forget the right hand mirror is reverse threaded! Also you can buy plastic frame plugs (9mm) at Menards to cover up the holes, you just have to shave the posts down a little.

well, I was actually looking around for a FZ6, when I saw this on the local craigslist. I have always been a fan of naked bikes, so I went to look at it and the guy was moving out of country in less than a week so he basically said name your price :p

very nice, I owned a zx6r as my first bike about 4 years agom then bought a yamaha r6, and now I am getting into this fz8 because I am tired of my back being cramped on long rides, I figured this is the best of both worlds without spending a fortune on a ducati streetfighter or monster

welcome dude! I almost picked up a used '11 fz8 from a guy in allentown, PA. But some other guy beat me to the punch.

Nice, I picked this one up from tri city powersports, it was a leftover 2012 model, I like the 2012 model because of the anodized gold forks, I think that looks sharp
