I've had a few people quite surprised when they find out my 2012 FZ8 has 40,000km on it (24,855MI). So I'm wondering who else has a high millage fz8?

25 month old and near enough 17k miles on mine. Have an R1 to use also but it's just finding time to just go for a ride. Normally they are planned trips of 500+ miles in one day to 1400 over a course of 4 days. Did a trip to Spain for two weeks and only covered 2993 miles on that one. 37-40 degrees C in black leathers ain't fun.

62 000km on my 2011 FZ8 . Valves were surprisingly within specifications. Got them checked at around 50 000km. Been a great bike. No problems what so ever.

I have a 2012 with 32,000 miles on it. I just bought it and expected some issues with that many miles but have found only minor things. Quite pleased with this bike!

2011 FZ8 I got 48,684 miles on mine, and I figure it's good for at least 100k... I work with a guy who has 106k on his 2011 R6 Yamaha, but he's on his third engine... wore one out, and broke another hitting road debris.

Adjust valves yet? How were they compared to spec?

I know this is an old post, but here in Dec, 2017 I actually have adjusted the valves, finally, and can also update the current mileage on my bike-

I bit the bullet, pulled the tank, air box, intake injection bodies, air induction equip, and a few other things off, and checked the valves, after ~72,000 miles. Good news is that all the intake valves were within spec, and the exhausts still had clearance, although they were tighter than from the factory. They varied from 4.5 thousandths clearance, most were around 6 thou, and a couple were over 7 thou. The desired range for the exhaust valves is: .0098-.0114" or .25-.29mm.

I finally put new spark plugs in (replacing the factory NGKs with the same part number plugs)

Runs good- One recommendation I'd make is to buy the recommended TB1541C glue to glue the valve cover gasket to the valve cover. It would make things a lot easier and less messy to assemble. Also read and thoroughly understand what you need to do to correctly install the chain tensioner; I didn't do this and broke the chain guide and had to buy a new one...

My bike was just in the shop 1000 miles ago for a dead cylinder. A coil was replaced and the bike ran fine. Yesterday the cylinder dropped again. Have you had any issues with this?
