Planning a trip - Boston to Smoky Mountains

My buddy and I have been talking about planning a trip in the spring to the smoky mountains from Boston. It's somewhere we've always wanted to see and what better way than by motorcycle. I know the FZ8 isn't ideal for touring but I wanna give it a whirl anyway. I'd like to avoid highways as much as possible too. Anybody have any tips on getting there, places to stay on the way, things to see. Plan on riding the blue ridge parkway and then going to the tail of the dragon so far

Love it down there. I will be down there from June 5-8 at Fontana village resort. Cool place just a little ways from all the great roads.

that resort looks pretty sweet. definetly gonna keep that in mind when its time to book a place. thanks for the tip!
