Heated Grips

Anyone install heated grips on their bike?

I know for some of you down south probably think it's crazy, but we've had a shitty summer up here in Canada and I think a set would be handy when riding through high mountain passes, at night, etc.

If anyone has done this before, please share some insight...

I installed some heater pads under the stock grips in April. They are a pretty basic setup with only 2 heat settings. Installation was easy. The stock grips came off without to much effort. I thought it might be hard to fit the grips back over the heater pads but that was even easier than getting the grips off. I wired in a relay straight from the battery that's switched by the ignition. From memory they pull about 10 watts on high and the electrical system handles it easily. It's the middle of winter here now and they work great, heating up quickly with both sides producing a nice even heat. On the high setting things get pretty toasty after a while so I use the high setting to get things going then switch to low for the rest of the cruise.
