Front Spocket Cover Removal

Has anyone removed the front spocket cover? If so , is there a trick to getting it off?

You have to take off the shifter arm on the tranny to get it off. Loosen the jam nuts on the ends of the shift rod at the shifter pedal and the shifter arm and spin the shaft until the ends drop off. Take out the allen bolt in the shifter arm and it slides right off. You can then monkey-motion the cover off easily.

Thanks for the reply. It looked a little tricky. Wasn't sure how the shift linkage came apart. It would be nice to find a Service Manal but so far I haven't had any luck finding one.
