I was a teenager when I bought a new Kawasaki 900 Z-1.

4,000 miles (2011 model - ride double 80%) just inspected the rear components and they look like new. I agree with NoNine4me and I will be performing regular inspections.

That's right Rotaryknight, the FZ8 has much better wind deflection than the FZ-09, especially with the Yamaha fly screen. Also you are right on point, the -09 seat slides you forward. But the foot pegs are further down, so your legs are not so bent on the -09.

Friend and I got to ride each others bikes. His FZ-09 is more responsive and feels lighter, my FZ8 seemed a tad bit smoother.

I agree with SpecOps13. Warm up the FZ8 until the Lo indication changes to degrees, then ride non-aggressively for a few miles.
