I started using a K&N oil filter and mine came on as well. Same amount of oil I used last change. Had to add a little because it seems the K&N will retain more of the oil. Not really sure if that's whats happening, but just a guess since nothing else changed.

Yeah, filter is in the correct side down and the plate is on top correctly. Took it all apart twice just to check since i haven't heard about this before installing.

I installed the K&N air filter and after replacing the screws on the air box cover realized the cover doesn't sit completely flush between the middle and top screws. Removing the metal plate that goes around the outside of the filter will allow it to close completely but then the middle screw...

Really glad i got the 2011. seems they are making it overly flashy with each year. The all black is perfect. just wish the gold parts were silver or black as well. thought the grey was "ok" but wouldn't buy it and now the blue is too over the top and looks like they're trying to hard. some...

The rattle that drives me crazy if from that plastic piece above the air box, over the front part of the fuel tank. If i rest my hand on it when riding it goes away. As for the headlight rattle, i had that too but it was that i hadn't reinstalled it perfectly.

Riding a motorcycle is dangerous enough as it is. I intend on keeping both wheels on the road. It is hard not to speed though...

My stand went back up on me as well at a bike night last season and crushed my hand between the bike next to me and my bar end. Had to get x-rays and had bruising and swelling for weeks but no damage to the bikes :)

Ordered the tank guard and grips. Thanks for posting. Exactly what i was looking for and the exhaust looks great. I'll have to wait a bit to drop the money on that. Does anything have to be adjusted for a slip-on or does the bike adjust itself accordingly? I'm pretty new to this stuff.

That's true. I can't stop for fuel or anything else without people walking up and complimenting it. :D The Givi is the better looking of any i have seen but it kinda makes the front of the bike look like one of the aliens from Halo.

I gotta say, In my opinion the windscreen ruins the look of the FZ8. The FZ1 looks good with it because it belongs there. I could never do such a thing to my 8. ;) I guess what I'm saying is i would have bought an FZ1 if I wanted a windscreen enough.

I have about 3000 miles on my bike and thinking about going to synthetic. Is there anything special i need to do when switching from conventional? Can the yamaha oil filters be used for synthetic as well? Just want to be sure i do things by the books as I'm fairly new to doing my own...

My thoughts exactly. I started on a ninja 250r and it never felt comfortable. I spent more time cleaning it, than riding and back/wrists constantly got sore. The Fz8 is a perfect blend of comfort, looks, power and handling. Funny you mention the kickstand...I nearly tipped my bike into another...

I mean just in the sense of how advanced everything from the engine to the electronics are on the FZ8 an many other newer bikes. Seems like something that shouldn't be that complicated to make accurate. :bs2:

My speedo is off as well. Kinda annoying for such a new bike to have this kind of issue.

I'm very happy with my evotech rad guard too. I have the fender eliminator from them as well, and both are built well and look great.
