    fz8 for starter

I think it would be a good choice for a first street bike. Learn to be a confident, defensive driver.....you can practice in your car the skills for seeing.

My dog's new ride to the dog park

That's not true, head down is a bad sign for a dogs happiness and confidence. They should not always be avoiding all eye contact, I'm sure some may say staring you down with an aggressive stance is a warning. Just like tail wagging is not always a sign a dog is happy or friendly. A low wag/...

    remote shock cartridge

That is nice!! Its worth it but they are pricey. Ohlins makes one also without the reservoir and maybe a little less adjustability for about half the price. That shock would probably suit must FZ8 riders perfectly. Did you do anything with the fork?

    FZ8 ride character?

No doubt, rider skill figures highly into motorcycling. I'm sure there are riders that could dust me on a 250 and I'm on a 1000 considering its not just straight aways.

    FZ8 ride character?

Ok I guess that will be relevant if I move out of the country anytime soon....

    FZ8 ride character?

My 2 cents, you sound like you have some powerful bikes in there. I think you will find the FZ8 underpowered at times and lacking in refinement. FZ8 is a cool bike but there is a reason its being replaced FZ09. I would urge you to look at the Triumph Speed Triple, The Yamaha FZ09 might suit...

If anyone is looking to buy in the phoenix area

Yeah some cycle trader adds have brand new 2013 FZ8s listed for under $6,500. I feel sorry for the guys trying to get more than that for their 2011 used bikes....:(

    Integrated Tail light installation

I would do the fender eliminator kit with smaller turn signals myself. I feel the separate turns signals give better visibility to vehicles around you. Not a fan of the integrated TL, motorists have enough trouble seeing bikes.

    Ergonomics

Dang 6'1" and its a reach to the bars.....hummm?

    Ergonomics

Take a long look at the new FZ09 I think it will be even more upright. I have decided to go that route too, even though next year you can be getting new 2013 FZ8s for a very good price!! Im sure the new bike will be getting close to MSRP for the first year or so. The new bike will for sure rock!!

*Rear Suspension Arm Failures* PLEASE READ

The suspension settings are irrelevant as is the weight, unless grossly overloaded. As the owner of a new bike this should be the last thing you should be thinking about! I may look harder at the FZ 09 for my next bike now with this going on..... My best guess is the parts were faulty...

*Rear Suspension Arm Failures* PLEASE READ

Weight should have no bearing on this at all. Something's not right.

    so this happened...

You have got to be kidding me!! "not a defect from the factory" WTF! Tell that dealer to give you your money back and report this to Yamaha customer service. Also let them know they will never get a dime of your money again. Terrible, just terrible...please say you did not buy the bike from...

*Rear Suspension Arm Failures* PLEASE READ

Even if you were "stunting" this should not happen. I would only accept this type of failure if there was some sort of very major crash/impact. This could get someone killed. Are you listening Yamaha :)

    so this happened...

Dang your the second guy who I have seen claim this issue. The other guy had a pretty good crash or something so I was suspicious, but this seems like it could be a trend. Odd this has not shown up more though as there are a decent # of these bikes running around for a while now?? Yes report...

New respect for this 2012 FZ8!

Why, common sense really. What difference does it mean with wear because its a wet clutch? The toughest clutches in the world are dry... Using the clutch in that manner also contributes to wear on the throw out bearing, springs and pressure plate. In hot weather it will help greatly to...

New respect for this 2012 FZ8!

Worst thing in the world you can for your clutch. Unless the stop will be very short I will always pull the bike out of gear and release the clutch.

Sell me on the FZ8 and this community

If you don't mind the frame mounted fairing, The FZ1 would be a very good choice instead of the 8 if $ is not too big an issue. Remaining new 8s will be available over the next year or so and should be priced to sell.
