    Eightless...

I hope you have better luck with your Duc than I did with mine. Good luck!

back in the saddle...fz8 the perfect choice.

I would stay away from the Ducati. I just came from a 1098 to the FZ8 and unless you are on the track, the FZ8 is a way better all-around bike. Maintenance on a Duc sucks, and you will need to do a lot of maintaining- trust me.

    MT-01 parts for an FZ8?

Let me start by saying that I just saw pictures of the MT-01, which apparently is for sale everywhere that isn't the United States (Thanks, Yamaha:tdown:). I have no doubt I would have chosen it over the FZ8 if given the choice. My question is this, since the bikes seems to have some...

    occasionally hard to start

Mine starts very easily for now, but I have noticed within the last week that once my bike starts, about 5 seconds later, the engine starts to lope for about 5 seconds, like it has a big cam. It's real strange, and I have no explanation for it. Maybe the ecm/ignition has some sort of...

    Pic from last night

I have a house in Lexington and in Lancaster.

    Pic from last night

No mirrors at the moment. I will get some eventually, but I kinda enjoy riding without them at the moment. It may sound really dumb, but the bike is much easier for me to ride without them. I feel as if the bike is more nimble and I seem to be more in tune with it. Obviously it's all in my...

    Pic from last night

I've put nearly 350 miles on the FZ8 this week. I'm not use to being able to ride 100 miles and still being able to walk afterwords. It's kinda nice.

    Are mirrors really necessary?

I'm not worried about the law. In order for me to be ticketed for that, I would have to be pulled over for something pretty bad, and even then I'd say the chances are pretty low. I will order some mirrors soon, when I settle on a pair. I like nice shit and usually will spring for it if it...

    Are mirrors really necessary?

In your opinion? I know the obvious advantages of mirrors, being a professional driver, but I have struggled with these hideous mirrors on the FZ8 from day one. I got bored today and went out and removed the mirrors, and the bike has a totally different character. With some minor tweaking...

    First oil change-observation

I just changed my oil and filter at 550 miles. I saw no evidence of metal shavings at all. I used the Rotella T6 and a Mobil filter. I was just a tad skeptical about using the same oil I use in my Dodge Diesel, but man, what a difference. I took it out for about a 150 mile ride after the...

    Oil Level ?

I changed mine this morning and put in 3 quarts (with a new filter) and it seems to be fine, but any more would have been too much.

    Yamaha Y.E.S extended service contract

I think it would be ok to use still, but I'm going to use a better oil anyway. I bought a gallon of Rotella T6, but I'm still not positive if I want to use that in my bike as opposed to going with something else, like Motul, or even Mobil 1. It did cross my mind to use my old yamalube at...

    Veteran Riders--FZ-8...How good is it?

My last two bikes were an R1 and a 1098. I will say that it is obviously way down on power compared to the 1098, which I rode for the last 4 years, and it has been a little difficult to get used to. I now have to kinda flog the FZ8 to get past the idiots in cars, whereas before I would just...

    Your Spot

I like the looks of your toys. I only have one of my garage from last year. There has been some changes since then, with the loss and addition of bikes, and now a boat that takes up all the space. That's my Dodge diesel outside the garage. I'm not sure what it runs in the 1/4, but it's...

    EXHAUST

Sweet! I feel like I'm riding a different bike since I put on the CS One.

Let's talk synthetic oils - how soon and what kind?

I find that it shifts hard at times, sometimes the shifts are vague, other times it can feel that the shifter is stuck. I REALLY hate when I come to a stop and try to downshift it into neutral or first, and it just clicks down, but won't downshift. Then I have to roll the bike forward to...

    New Guy from LA

Wow! I have been thinking how cool of a platform the FZ8 would be to turn into a cafe' racer style bike. (I love the show "Cafe Racer", and I think the guy that turns the Yamaha Virago's into a cafe racer has some of the baddest bikes I've ever seen. I HATE the headlight of the FZ8 more and...

Let's talk synthetic oils - how soon and what kind?

I went to the store today. I got some T6 for the bike and some Royal Purple for my mower. I hope the T6 works as well. I gotta say, the transmission on my FZ8 is rough. That is one area where I will take a Ducati over a Yamaha all day long. If the T6 can smooth out the transmission some...

    Yamaha Y.E.S extended service contract

Yep, the magnuson-moss warranty act. IMO, that doesn't necessarily make it illegal to void a warranty, they just have to prove that something the owner did lead to the the failure. It just simply puts EVERYTHING into legal terms and will most likely come down to semantics beyond that. In a...

    NAYSAYERS...

No clue. Never been there. I can just barely recall the article, but from what I remember, they kind of noted how the motorcycle was more utilized in Europe as a common form of transportation, whereas here it's more of a recreational thing.
