    Sold the FZ8

Well....I did it, sold the FZ8! Been looking around the last 6 months or so. Looked at a new Moto Guzzi Norge, Ninja 1000abs and a host of others. Walked into one of the area Kawasaki dealers, again, on a snowy day and there sat a 2014 Concours C14 with 1,400 miles on it. It had been traded-in...

I'm getting ready to put on my 2nd set of Michelin PR4's. I got about 13k out of the rear (as you can tell....not a hard rider) Did two 3,000+ mile trips on them as well!

    New Member looking at a 2012 FZ8 w/ 20k miles -- question

I've got 21K on my 12 (bought in 2013) and have done nothing but routine maintenance. Replacing the chain next month and putting on a new set of PR4's for 3K mile ride in May.

I've got about 12K on a set of Michelin PR 4's and still looking pretty good. Will change them out at the end of the year.

    Hot Shad Seat

Glad to hear some positive results on the heat tape applied to the underside of the seat! Have to agree with you on the crappy roads in RI but then again, CT doesn't have the greatest either!

    Hot Shad Seat

While it's not "good" to hear.....I am relived that I wasn't the only one who noticed this. Unfortunately I have been tied up with work and haven't gotten around to resolving this issue on mine. Let us know how the gold heat tape works out as I'm curious!

    Hot Shad Seat

I've been looking at similar products online but I want to see it before I buy to make sure it's going to be applicable to what I'm trying to accomplish. I've got a Hot Rod/Speed Shop close by work that I need to stop in at and see what they might have for use on a fire wall or such. I notice...

    Hot Shad Seat

Nothing to show in a photograph. There seems to be more engine heat transmitted through the Shad seat then the stock seat. The shad seat is certainly thinner in profile and that may be all there is to the discussion , but...... thought maybe someone else had noticed this as well and came up with...

    Hot Shad Seat

After 17K miles of an uncomfortable seat, I finally installed the Shad seat. Over this past weekend I put on 1K miles and can't figure out why I didn't make the switch sooner! With that said....I do have one complaint. Has anyone else found that the Shad seat transmits more heat then the stock...

    Touring Modifications

So I did a little research last night..... 9Lives installed a 17t (+1) front sprocket while keeping the stock rear sprocket at 46t which lowered the gear ratio from 2.88 (stock) to 2.71. I could not find anyone making the 17t front sprocket (9lives suspected this) so I began looking at rear...

    Touring Modifications

9 Lives....thanks for the feed back! I'm surprised that the +1 change dropped the RPMs that much and I agree that it should make the highway ride a bit more enjoyable. At the moment I'm getting between 52 and 55 mpg which is great for a bike that's rated by Yamaha to get around 39, but I'd still...

Changing Front Sprocket for Increased Mileage Has anyone changed the front sprocket to +1. Looking to drop the RPM's for highway travel and getting a few more miles per tank.
