There are a ton of good long rides winding up and down the bluffs in WI. You definitely need to watch the gravel though. Certain roads will have gravel all year long, but you can find some awesome roads that are clean. 60 near Wabasha and some tangents from there is fun. Some of my favorites in...
I have to agree here. I got my new '13 for $6200 OTD last April from a dealer in Ohio. There are a lot of deals on the '13 and insurance is less than $400 annually for really good coverage. Granted, it'll be more for a single college student, but shouldn't be terrible.
We really got screwed in the Cities this year too. I was expecting at least two more weeks of riding and now we haven't gotten over freezing in a couple of weeks. Oh well - guess it's time to throw in the towel and wait impatiently until March.
I'm thinking about heading down that way on a ride tomorrow since I haven't been in WI for a while. Hopefully the weather cooperates. If you're around we could hit some of the roads together.
I always head to the Mississippi on the WI side and go south for the really good rides. Around Welch is usually pretty fun too. I moved from Colorado 2 years ago and really miss riding in the mountains, so I hit up the bluffs as much as possible. It's the closest to good twisties that we can get.

I'm in Burnsville too. But I haven't seen any other 8's riding around here. Good to know there are a few in the area! Yamaha had their demo ride at Motoprimo a couple weeks ago with the FZ-09 there.
I had the opportunity to try the FZ-09 and Bolt at a demo ride up in MN recently. I have to agree that I love my FZ8 even more after the demo.
But the 9 was incredibly fun. I loved the torque and the sound. I think it's a better bike for the joy rides, but I found some downfalls that make the...
