2011 CB1000r is also a nice looking and from the reviews smooth.

2011 CB1000R Overview - Honda Powersports

If you can get the european model.

2011 Honda CB1000R - Top Speed

2011 Honda CB1000R: MD First Ride-Part Two MotorcycleDaily.com – Motorcycle News, Editorials, Product Reviews and Bike Reviews

but its about 2-3 grand more from the fz8 but you gain like 200ccs of power and the front suspension is adjustable.

But in all honesty i cant say this is a fair comp. to the fz8.

If the cost of the bike was 10-12k it would have EVERYTHING the cb1000r has and more.

Very different bikes. I suggest doing a search if you want different opinions. Most of the worldwide bike mags have run comparo tests.

After reading them, you will find the 8 always comes out either on top or very highly rated.

This is my 10th bike, almost all of them naked/streetfighter style, and this thing kicks every one of them to the curb. Out of the box it needs almost nothing to improve it. A few dollars worth of cosmetic clean up and you are away.
Without doubt the most user friendly, bang for your buck machine avavilable. I paid $7850 for mine..way cheaper than all of the competition.

100% of all reviews i see the only negative thing is the non adjustable front suspension.

and some that say if you lean to the extreme you will skratch the pegs.

The KTM SD 990 can be bought for around 8ooo. The bike has better components but Id be buying a 3 year old bike, so that is my dilemma.
The Honda looks nice but it's a honda...lol

that honda looks like a potential copyright infringement. honda must have been lazy and just copied the amazing fz8 instead of trying to be original. gotta admit, it looks a LOT like the fz8, but it's got that crappy honda name on it.

OMG did anyone look at the other side of that bike, HOLY F'K'N UGLY SHIT BATMAN!

Dont let the fanboy sickness effect you. Honda builds some nice bikes.

Id have to say if you lookinf for a naked style bike from the $7000-8500 range then the FZ8 is the bike to get.
Yamaha has perfected many things with the FZ series and has delivered a fantastic bike.

I absolutely loooove single sided swing arms, however, Honda have never got it right. Left side much prettier than the right.

lol so my wife walks by as i'm looking at the pic of the honda and says...see baby the do make an FZ with a SSA. lol

This is bike four for me. 1st was a K5 SV650n... loved that bike, great first bike and soooo much fund to build, was ready to move on so I sold her...(and lifted my JKU)
2nd bike... 2004 R6... wow what a nice bike... but not my style. Sold it
3rd bike (well my wifes) K6 SV650S .... nice bike but still a SV, oh and it's my wifes....
4th bike.... Oh ya 2011 FZ8... So far I love this bike, there are thing I was to change out but nothing that is a 911 deal.

As far as riding....SV vs FZ8 There very smiler in riding position, however the FZ has less wind buffering. Huh there both nakids... The FZ is seems to have a more comfortable riding position and seem to more stable on the highways. Power wise they are both a blast... the FZ has the edge by about 12 ftlbs on torque and about 25 more Hp.

R6 vs FZ8.... they are completely different bikes. That being said... to me if you want a sport bike then look at sport bikes.

Sorry hopes this helps... DHM

OK, so what's the deal with these dumbass looking headlights? IMO both that Honda and the FZ8, as well as a lot of other bikes, look good all angular and aggressive and then completely screw it up with a completely ridiculous Anime inspired doofus headlight. Serves no purpose and looks totally stupid IMO. Can anybody tell me when motorcycles were transformed into cartoons?

One thing I can't understand is the price of the fz, all the 450 off road bikes are from 7,800 to around 8,000 bucks. Single cylinder high tech stuff, but come on how do you sell a 4 cylinder street bike for 8,000. seems cheap...
My no love for Honda comes from the fact that to me it's just a vanilla company, they didn't,t sell a four stroke dirt bike for years after Yamaha, like it or not they just play it safe watching the market, and the four strokes they sold to all the Honda fans had some pretty bad flaws.(sorry for all my dirt references,it's my other passion.)
I'm going to have to breakdown and fondle this bike at the dealer,
wish I could check it out without the sales pest. :bs2::poke:

I dunno. Two each his own, I guess, but I really think the Honda's stock exhaust looks horrid. I actually like the look and sound of the stock exhaust on the FZ8 (even though I know a lot of people don't) much more and blacking out most of the FZ8 gives it more character IMHO.

I also think that the stock fender on the Honda is uglier than the FZ8 and the tail section is too... pointy.

Mirrors are still ugly on the Honda too. Why can't designers put something better than bug antenna mirrors on bikes? Do they just assume people will replace mirrors, exhaust, tail section, etc so they don't bother with the looks of these parts?

I just wouldn't spend the extra money on the Honda for the extra power and, IMO, an uglier bike. My FZ8 has plenty of power and looks better to me. :D

we all have to realize that many design decisions are based on laws of the land. mirrors, exhaust and the tails are all designed to be street legal...aka, UGLY.

I went:
81 harley sportster - only kept it 6 months
80 honda nighthawk 650 - loved it.
96 suz katana - only kept it 3 months
98 Yamaha Maxim - liked it.
02 Honda Shadow - loved it.
11 Yamaha FZ8 - Love it. LOTS of torque. plenty of bandwidth, and all straight out of the box. I'll be testing it on the three sisters this month a few times, but so far on the little twisties it handles everything I throw at it, and other than the 20mph crosswinds on I-10 sometimes, it handles straightaways and chickenstrip highways like a pro... and when you get those RPM's over what, 6000??? I LOVE THAT GROWL!!!

sorry don't know the KTM line at all... but when I was shopping the FZ8 I had only one runner up since I didn't want to wait for the limited availability of the CBR1000, and that was the Kawasaki Z1000 (NOT THE NINJA) and it came down to price for me because everything else I was comparing came out to stuff that was so similar that the NON TRACK RIDING OUT FOR RIDING ENJOYMENT person, really wouldn't give a crap one way or the other.
